'Einstein and the Bomb' is an innovative drama documentary telling the story of the relationship between Albert Einstein, the legendary theoretical physicist who changed the way we see reality, and the development and use of the atomic bomb based on his science. Combining dramatised scenes, where Einstein's dialogue is scripted entirely from genuine quotes from the great man himself, with rarely-seen archive footage, 'Einstein and the Bomb' shines a light on a turbulent moment in world history and an incredible man who changed the world forever. Produced by BBC Science for Netflix.
In 2019, I wrote this drama documentary to mark the 50th anniversary of the first manned landing on the Moon by Apollo 11. Using previously classified cockpit audio, recorded by the astronauts themselves, and dramatic reconstruction to bring those recordings to life, alongside original archive footage from the Apollo programme, newly shot film and cinematic CGI to create the ultimate documentary of the ultimate human adventure. '8 Days: To the Moon and Back' was produced by BBC Science/PBS and was nominated for Rose d'Or, BAFTA and EMMY awards.
In 2008, my verbatim/documentary play, 'Deep Cut' - telling the story of four mysterious deaths at an Army barracks in Surrey, and the battle of the parents of Cheryl James for answers and justice - stormed the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. The play, produced by Sherman Cymru, won the Amnesty International Freedom of Expression, Fringe First and Herald Angel awards, played at the Tricycle Theatre, toured the UK twice and was adapted for Radio 4.
I work alongside my partner, Fern Smith as Emergence, a creative initiative that hosts retreats and rites of passage, and facilitates workshops about deep change at a personal and organizational level.
